The school operates a cashless system for purchasing school meals. All students will have their fingerprint scanned on Induction Day. (The scanner uses four points of recognition only; the whole fingerprint is not stored). Students will be taken class by class to be shown how to credit dinner money to their accounts and we recommend at least £2 be brought into school on Induction Day. Any money that is not used will be available when the students start in September.
Students entitled to a free school meal will automatically be credited with their daily allowance however this cannot be carried over from one day to the next.
Two machines are located in the Dining Room and accept all coins except 1p, 2p and 5p pieces. One of the machines accepts £5, £10 and £20 notes.
If a student has forgotten their lunch money, they can come to reception and ask for a lunch card to the value of £2. We will ring home to gain adult permission as this will need to be paid back to school the following school day.
It is important that students are given the correct money as no change is available in school.
You can also pay by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Pensby High School and deposited in the box located in the Dining Room; any cheques deposited before 10am will be credited in time for lunch on the same day. Please write the student’s name and form on the reverse of the cheque. If the payment is to be shared between two students please identify both with full name and form.
You can also pay through Parent-Pay on the Internet. You will be sent a letter early in September giving you the log-in details and a unique user-name and password. This is an ideal way to pay in advance for school meals and could be for a week, a month or a term.
The system is set so that students cannot spend more than £4 a day. If you wish to change this please contact the Catering Manager at school. Also, if you would like to know what your child has been eating, please contact the Catering Manager, Mrs Carole Huxley on telephone number 0151 342 0507 or email her on email@example.com
Provision is made for students who prefer to bring a packed lunch to school.
In the winter months if the weather is bad we provide the opportunity for students to stay inside school at break and lunch time. At all other times we encourage students to go outside. We do stress however that no eating or drinking is allowed inside school other than the dining room.
